習慣寫英文的人都知道句子的第一個單字以及我”I”必須要大寫，但除了這些之外，還有很多也需要大寫的部分喔!一起來看看吧!
1. People
- Names of Individuals
Examples: Ashley Lee, Nathan M. Sperry - Family:
Only capitalize when personally addressing an individual.
Examples: “May I have a snack, Mother?” asked Bryan. Bryan’s mother nodded her head and went to the kitchen. I had dinner with Uncle Joe last night.Sarah had dinner with her uncle last night. - Titles, ranks, etc.
Examples: Professor McNulty, President Obama, the Queen of Denmark, Dr. Parker
2. Geographical locations:
Only capitalize in specific names.
- Cities, nations, countries, continents, etc.
Examples:
Boston, the United Kingdom, South America - Mountains, bodies of water
Example:
The Gobi Desert is larger than the deserts in California. - Compass directions
Examples:
We’re leaving the Northwest and moving down south.
3. Days of the week, months, holidays
Seasons are not capitalized.
- Example:
Next Monday is the first day of winter.
4. Celestial bodies:
Only capitalize earth , moon, sun when other celestial bodies are appearing in the sentence.
- Examples:
How far is Earth from the Sun?
The sun is a star.
5. Historical events and eras
- Examples:
the Ice Age, the Great Depression, World War II
6. Races, nationalities, languages
- Examples:
Asians, Swedes, Swedish
7. Religions and religious terms
- Examples:
Allah, Buddha, Christianity, God
8. Titles
- Books, newspapers, magazines
Examples:
Things Fall Apart, Seattle Times, National Geographic - TV shows, movies
Examples:
Game of Thrones, Breakfast at Tiffany’s - Musical compositions
Examples:
Canon in D Major, Strawberry Fields Forever
9. Organizations and brand names
- Examples:
American Lung Association, Toyota, Microsoft
